Burrst is a site for sharing short pieces of fiction - 'bursts' of 1,250 words or less (both written and spoken). This is our official blog.

Untold Tales competition

EDIT:

The competition is now closed, the winner will be announced on Monday, 8th of October 2012 (sorry for the delay).

EDIT:

Here’s a list of the Untold Tales competition entries to date.

I can now announce the details of our first ever competition here on Burrst - Untold Tales.

Our guest judge for the competition is Rob Brown; two times voice of God (and thrice voice of the devil). You might not know the name but you will almost certainly have heard his voice before. Rob is a multi-talented English voice artist who’s worked with the BBC, Channel 4, Sky, MTV, Sony, Nintendo, XBOX, and many others. There are numerous examples of Rob’s work on his website but here’s one for Terry Pratchett’s Going Postal on Sky 1.

So, the competition rules (such as they are):

Theme

The chosen theme for the competition is ‘the blues’ – take that however you wish, it could be the music, the feeling, shades of the colour…

The judges

Rob Brown will be selecting the winning entry.

Timings

The competition will run from Sunday August 12th until September 24th, and the winner will be announced on the 1st 8th of October 2012.

Submissions

Submissions should not include audio and must be no more than 1,250 words. To submit an entry, post your burst on Burrst.com and mark it for the competition by including the words ‘Untold Tales Entry’ as the first line in the initial comment. You can submit more than one entry.

Who can take part

The competition is open to all Burrst writers (except those directly involved in running the website).

Prizes

The winner will have the narrating talents of Rob applied to their burst, will receive a digital audio copy for use as they wish, and will receive £50. Their burst will also be subject to additional first-page promotion on Burrst for 30 days once the audio version is available.
